Awami National Party (ANP) Sindh chapter President Senator Shahi Saeed said that fundamentalism and terrorism had engulfed the country like an epidemic and the only way out left for the nation was to invest and concentrate efforts in the education sector.
Talking to a delegation at Mardan house he said that ANP would exert its pressure at all avenues where it commanded influence. He said that the time was ripe to learn from the wrong decisions of the past and added that if the ills that were sowed three decades ago were not cured, history would not grant Pakistan with another chance to culture itself as a democratic nation. He said that the citizens had to decide whether they wanted Pakistan to be a pluralistic society or they wanted fundamentalism and fraud theological doctrines to decide the fate of their municipal activities. He said that the country was at the verge of a bloody battle between holders of different viewpoints and the very philosophy that had reduced the country to such barbarianism would continue to breed reactionaries if the secular segments do not verbalize their philosophy for managing Pakistan. He said that attacking girls like Malala was a textbook example of cowardliness and the barbarians would not deter ANP with blood whether it was of ANP office bearers or of progressive citizens.
