Dr Asim mulling to resign from Senate

Advisor to Prime Minister on Petroleum and Natural Resources Dr Asim Hussain is seriously thinking to resign from the senator ship for having dual nationality of Canada.
Reliable sources told Online here on Monday that Dr Asim Hussain is seriously thinking to resign in the wake of Supreme Court decision against those Parliamentarians who have dual nationality and directed Election commission of Pakistan to take action against such parliamentarians who have dual nationality.
The source informed that Advisor to PM on Petroleum and Natural Resources Dr Asim has Canadian nationality and decided to resign before start of any kind of proceedings against him like his other fellow parliamentarians.
In this regard, when this scribe tried to contact Dr Asim to get his view over the news but he was not available to respond.
It is to pertinent here that the secretary Election commission of Pakistan had clearly stated that dual nationality holders cannot be parliamentarians in Pakistan while Supreme Court has also directed secretaries to receive fresh declarations from parliamentarians, testifying that they do not hold dual nationality.
Advisor to Prime Minister was working as Honorary Personal Physician to the President of Pakistan Since December 12, 2009 till date and as Advisor to the Prime Minister for Petroleum & Natural Resources/Federal Minister. Dr Asim hussain has also worked as Chairman, National Reconstruction Bureau with the status of Federal Minister from May, 2008 till November 26, 2009.
During his tenure in the ministry he given petroleum policy 2012, draft of LPG (production and distribution) policy 2012 for comments and stakeholders and introduced the much debated and also criticized weekly price determination system of Petroleum products. Dr Asim hussain also worked diligently on Iran Pakistan and Turkmenistan Afghanistan Pakistan India (TAPI) project.
