Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Iftikhar Hussain on Saturday said the suicide blast in Darra Adam Khel and militants’ attacks in other areas were a reaction to the reports of an imminent military offensive in North Waziristan. The minister was speaking to the media after visiting Lady Reading Hospital, where dead and injured from the suicide blast were taken. He said the militants had been carrying out activities in Peshawar and adjacent areas in a bid to pressure the government against conducting the proposed military operation in North Waziristan. “Why shouldn’t we pre-empt their (terrorists) attacks by launching a full-scale operation against them,” he added. Taliban’s shooting on Malala Yousufzai has sparked a debate in the country whether to launch a military offensive in North Waziristan or not.
