Newcomer Alia Bhatt, who features in Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year along with Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan, is all set for the film’s release. The actress recalls KJo’s touching gesture, “Karan Johar had personally written a letter to all the three (Sidharth, Varun, Alia) that we received with a box of our film’s music cds. To me, he wrote, ‘You will always be the Shanaya of my life.’ Shanaya is my character in the film. It was an emotional and sweet message for me and I am grateful to Karan for that. For me it’s a priceless possession.” The debutante is nervous as the film’s release date draws closer. “But the promotional schedules are keeping me so busy and occupied that I am not actually feeling it,” she says. On her experience of promoting SOTY, Alia says, “The event activities are fun. When we see a huge crowd, it surprises us because we don’t expect them to actually turn up for newcomers like us. But when they meet and interact with us, it is overwhelming. We are more happy to see them than they are to see us.” As for the audience, Alia feels, “All those who want to relive their college days should go and watch the film. Also, we need their support.” When asked about her student days, Alia adds, “I was an average student and not interested in studies. I was more interested in the extra-curricular activities and would actively participate in dramatics, sports and elocution competitions. The day I was leaving school, the last day, I felt I was leaving my family behind.” Student Of The Year, produced by Dharma Productions, releases October 19.
