Three university students received burn wounds when unknown extremists hurled acid at them as they returned home from college in Kohat. Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility. As per details, the three girls were returning to Parachinar, after giving their masters exam in Kohat, when unidentified miscreants threw acid at their face, injuring them critically. Other passengers present in the vehicle also suffered minor burn wounds. The injured girls were shifted to Kurram Agency Headquarters Hospital. Local people, civil society and non governmental organizations (NGOs) working for women rights have condemned the attack and termed it as a cowardly act.
They demanded the government and law enforcement agencies to arrest the culprits and award them exemplary punishment. Meanwhile, TTP spokesperson in Kurram Agency, Qari Muhavia, through a telephone call to the local journalists, has claimed responsibility for the incident. He was of the view that in TTP’s presence, no girl in the Agency could get education.
