Power protesters vent anger at church

A violent mob pelted stones on a church during a protest against prolonged power outages in Ranchore Lines area. The St Francis Church and missionary school in Nanakwara, Ranchore Line is located close to the old Haji camp. Residents of the area suffering power outages for the last three days took to the streets to vent their anger against KESC. The demonstrators gathered near Khyber Chowk where they set a few tyres alight, blocked traffic and raised slogans demanding that power to their area be restored. However, some members started pushing against the gates of the 75-year-old church. They breached the outer courtyard of the church and pelted the building’s façade with stones and damaged a vehicle parked within. Police and Rangers were called in to control the situation.
