A small number of buses on most of the city routes being plied by franchised companies on Thursday aggravated the transport problems of daily commuters.
There was no bus from any franchised company running between Youhanabad to Lahore railway station and some other important points to Lorry Adda due to which the people have to face difficulties.
“I have to commute in a crowded bus of route number 33 and 77 after a long wait from Shadman to Lahore railway to reach my workplace,” said Abdul Karim, a daily commuter.
He said that earlier the transport system of route number 33 and 77 was better when wagons were used to ply on this route and the people did not have to wait for wagons for long. He appealed to the Punjab government to improve urban transport system for the facility of commuters.
Another commuter Zubair Ahmed said that he commutes from Thokar Niaz Beg to China Chowk in a packed bus after a long wait at stop. He said that franchised companies were not improving the number of buses on the route causing difficulty for commuters.
An official of Lahore Transport Company said that the Punjab government is working on improving the transport system in the city.
