The government of Punjab on Thursday ordered colleges to shut down all the computer centers formed 15 years ago with the collaboration of the private sector and to start the computer classes in collaboration with the government.
According to sources, the provincial government was evaluating the pros and cons of the computer centers in the government colleges running in collaboration with the private sector for last two years.
In a meeting with the secretary education Punjab, director of colleges said that the officials of the private sector had established their monopoly in the government colleges and ruining the discipline by keeping the government colleges till evening for computer courses. He further opined that the private sector was earning billions after spending millions in the government colleges, which the Punjab government could earn too.
After a consultation with the directors of the colleges, the provincial government decided not to extend the contracts of the private sector and start computer classes in the government college on their own. It is pertinent to mention here that the contracts were to be renewed in August this year.
At the same time, the people from the private sector said that they took the risk of establishing the computer centers when the government was not taking the risk and worked hard to make the computer centers a success. The added now that the centers are successful, the government was separating them from the system.
Private sector was doing quite well as compated to the other depts like physics chemestry & biology, they gave excellent results, the decision of punjab govt is totally unjustified.ICS students will seriously suffer by this decision and hope punjab Govt will extend their contrects and also investment and hard work of private sector will not go waste.
