An order on the fate of Australian sheep, imported in Pakistan by PK Livestock and Meat Company, would be would be goven by Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday (October 12). Government received results of the 102 samples of Australian sheep it dispatched to Britain find whether the Australian batch of sheep were fit for human consumption or not. National Veterinary Lab Islamabad (NVLI) had cleared the sheep twice by testing the samples for any hazardous disease, whereas the labs of Sindh which include poultry vaccine lab and Tando Jam lab declared the sheep diseased and unfit for human consumption. After the conflicting reports, court ordered to send the samples to a lab in (United Kingdom) UK for a final verdict on the health of the sheep. PK Livestock and Meat Company after receiving confirmation from the Government that the UK Lab had pronounced the results, requested SHC to seal the fate of the sheep. SHC summoned all the concerned parties on October 12. A PK Livestock spokesperson said that “we are still confident about the health status of the Australian sheep as these sheep arrived from a country which is a declared disease-free country and exports millions of sheep and cattle across the globe annually.
