SBP achieves all the set goals: Punjab Sports DG

Director General, Sports Board Punjab, Usman Anwar has said the SBP is maintaining the rhythm and is getting all the set goals in the holding of the Punjab Youth and Sport Festival and the grand event is reaching to its climax with its fifth phase commenced on Monday at various parts of the province.
The Divisional Level of the Festival which is the fifth level, is being held in 23 sectors of the society and competitions will be held in 224 sports and general events.
Usman Anwar informed that the level carries the prize money of Rs 5,740,500. “We are gradually moving towards the upper level. The time Divisional Level concludes, it will mark the start of the Provincial level,” he said.
Director General Sports Board and Youth Affairs Punjab further said that it a matter of great pride for the participants of the Festival after the Provincial Level, the SBP will be conducting the Punjab International Sports Festival in which 41-foreign teams will be taking part in disciplines of Ju-Jitsu, Belt Wrestling, Traditional Judo, Touch Ball men, Touch Ball women, Fist Ball, Wrestling, Kabaddi, Hockey men, Hockey women, Rugby, Football, Indo-Pak Dangal, Table Tennis and Baseball are included.
“On Sunday night Orientation Conference of all the volunteers and organisations attached to the Festival was held at the Punjab Stadium. The gathering of around 30,000 youngsters was given the guidelines for the conduct of the upcoming activity including the events of the Guinness World Record.”
“After the conclusion of the international event, a Dosti Cup of Deaf and Dump is likely to be held in which different sports of Pakistan and Indian deaf and dump players compete,” he added.
On Monday, University of Lahore beat Punjab University by 21 runs in the final of the University cricket for women. The event was participated by 6 universities of the Punjab and in the final University of Lahore set 42 runs targhet but Punjab University was bowled out for 21 runs.
There was competition of painting and photography were held at Baghbanpura School. Around 200 students of various schools took part in this non-sporting activity. MNP Pervaz Malik, who was the chief guest of the event, gave the prizes to the winners of photography and painting competitions.
Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker Punjab Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, who is the chief organiserof the PYF, presided over a meeting of the heads of Education Institutes which was also attended by Usman Anwar and EDO. They were directed to make arrangements for the accommodation of the participants of the Festival’s provincial level at their institute hostels while other arrangements to facilitate them and provide them with transportation will be done the organizers of the PYF.
“During the fifth level, there will be competitions in 26 sports events that includes arm wrestling, athletics (eight categories), badminton, billiard, cricket, tug or war, volleyball, bodybuilding (three categories), football, weightlifting (three categories), basketball, chess, hockey, Kabaddi, mat wrestling (three categories), mud wrestling (three categories), table tennis, karate (three categories), taekwondo (three categories), tent pegging, baseball, boxing (three categories), marathon powerlifting (three categories), and rugby,” he added.
“The non-sporting events are naat khani, qirat, cooking, painting, pet competition, photography, poetry, mushaira, milli naghme, songs, calligraphy, dress designing, stitching, handicraft, family dressing, healthy baby competition, kitchen gardening, drama, short film, street art, street art theatre.”
