The Interior Ministry has halted the process of confirmation of services of 45 officers who had come to the Federal Investigation Agency on deputation on “political grounds”. The officers originally belong to the Civil Secretariat, NADRA, PIA and EOBI and other departments. They were trying to get permanent positions in the FIA, a move that would have deprived FIA and police officers with a right of promotion. According to the law, FIA can hire the services of officers from the Police, Customs, Income Tax and FBR on deputation as it requires but theses officers do not have any authority to carry out investigations.
