The government on Tuesday filed a review petition against the Supreme Court’s order of Sept 18 pertaining to the contempt of court case against the prime minister in the NRO implementation case.
The review petition was submitted by the Deputy Attorney General Dil Muhammad Ali Zai.
The petition stated that the four measures proposed by the court to write the letter to Swiss authorities in the court’s decision of Sept 18 were against the Para 178 of an earlier decision made in the NRO implementation case.
The petition added that the implementation bench cannot overturn the decision of the original bench. It asserted that the letter was to be written by the government and not the apex court.
The government wished to follow the directives stated in the Para 178 and had prepared a draft of the letter in accordance to it.
The petition stated that the court’s directive of Sept 18 was an error in judgment on the court’s part. Therefore, the petition requested the court to overturn the court’s earlier decision of Sept 18.
The four steps the SC planned to monitor were: written authorization by the prime minister regarding implementation of the NRO verdict; drafting of the relevant communication; dispatch of such communication to and receipt of the same by the Swiss and other authorities; and final confirmation of such receipt of the relevant communication by the concerned authorities abroad.
Earlier, the apex court had given the government a deadline of Sept 25 to complete the draft of the letter to Swiss authorities.

  1. Supreme court has no right to pass illegal judgements against the government. These judges have no moral credibility.

  2. These judges are holding the whole country for ransom, there is one law for the government and a differnt one for CJ,s son.very shameful.

  3. Chief justice has no answers to the questions posed by faisal raza abidi.Ido not know media is keeping so quiet about this. Most of the media is trying to protect C J and his corrupt son

  4. Supreme Court of Pakistan is not fair any better, they seem to be too keen to get involved any small matter and waste too much time in considering simple cases. The judges are unable to reach conclusive verdicts and keep deferring the outcome. It is about time that theses judges learn to make objective decision and get them implemented. This will enable lower courts to follow the example and expedite the justice. Justice delayed is justice denied. NRO ruling not implemented soon will be biggest down fall of judges.
