Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said the federal government failed to pay attention to the energy crisis looming over the country.
Talking to PML-N workers in London, he said PML-N President Nawaz Sharif was the only national leader who could take the country out of the present crises and put it on the road to progress and prosperity.
He said it was an honour that during last four-and-a-half years, there had not been even a single allegation of corruption against the Punjab government and as the province’s chief minister Punjab, he had tried to discharge his responsibilities in an efficient manner.
Shahbaz said every step taken by the Punjab government was aimed at progress and welfare of the people of the province, due to which the popularity of PML-N had increased manifold, a proof of people’s trust in the party.
He said people were suffering due to load shedding despite the almost five-year tenure of the government.
“The incompetent government has destroyed national economy; devastated profit-earning national institutions while the decisions of the court are being openly ridiculed,” he added.
Shahbaz said the federal government had failed to pay any attention to the energy crisis.
The chief minister said the nation was looking forward to general election in which it would completely reject the looters and thieves who had deprived the poor even of even the basic necessities of life.
Shahbaz said he had held negotiations with foreign experts during his visit to Turkey, Britain and Germany in order to acquire latest technology, especially in the solar energy sector to solve the power crisis, along with inking several agreements in this regard. He said Turkish and German companies were interested in investing in the energy sector in Punjab and in the last week of October, an energy road show was being conducted for Punjab in Turkey in which all energy-related companies of Turkey would participate.
The CM said it was agreed during round table sessions in London that mutual cooperation between British universities and Punjab Energy Research and Development Centre would be promoted.
