She is in line to play one of the most sought after roles in Hollywood. Little wonder then British actress Emily Blunt has vowed never to play wallflowers or meek women in films. The 29-year-old is vying for the role of Ms Marvel in the highly anticipated sequel to Avengers Assemble. She told Harpers’ Bazaar: ‘I hate it when you get a script and of course the character who is compassionate or gets emotional or submissive is the girl. ‘I always try and steer clear of that. I know what I feel when I do those scenes. ‘It is like I do an internal eye roll and straight away I know that I am out – I cannot do that character.’ It has been reported that Blunt is in a head to head battle with fellow British actress Ruth Wilson to play Ms Marvel, though the studio has yet to confirm this. The character first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1968 as a security chief Carol Danvers. Captain Marvel saved her after an explosion at a military base and she acquired some of his powers. The new movie is due to begin shooting next year. Whoever is chosen will star alongside Scarlett Johansson.
