Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that the government was against the drone attacks and he had raised the issue at every forum during his US trip. Talking to reporters on Monday upon his return from the US, the minister said he apprised US officials about the concerns of Pakistani nation over drone attacks. “I told them Pakistanis don’t like drones, I told them we are dubbed as American stooge due to US policies,” he added. The minister said the US officials assured him that they would review the policy of using drones. Malik said he met US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the US attorney general and handed them a letter regarding Dr Aafia Siddiqui. “We are now waiting for their reply and we will send a high-power delegation to the US,” Malik added. The minister said the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) respected the courts and its leaders appeared before them whenever they were summoned. He said the PPP wanted supremacy of law across the country.
Court grants bail to Malik in dual nationality case: A local court on Monday granted bail to Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik in the dual nationality case. The District Court (South) passed the order after hearing a plea filed by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on lawmakers’ dual nationality. Issuing a notice to the minister, the judge ordered Malik to file a security bond of Rs 50,000. Malik’s counsel filed the bonds on behalf of the minister to acquire the bail.
