99 victims of Gulf War compensated, 300 to follow

Member National Assembly (MNA) Shaikh Salahuddin distributed compensation cheques to the affectees of the 1991 Gulf (Kuwait-Iraq) war.
The distribution ceremony was held at the Regional Overseas Office on Monday. The MNA distribute 99 cheques worth Rs.15 million to the victims and their heirs. As per a statement issued by overseas ministry, another 300 cheques would be handed over to the affected after verification of the list of potential candidates. Shaikh Salahuddin said that the present government had vowed to protect the rights of overseas Pakistanis. He paid tribute to overseas Pakistanis for sending $ 13 billion annually in remittances.
Federal Secretary of Overseas and BOG Chairman for Overseas Pakistan were also present on the occasion.
