Chairman Pak India Business Council Noor Muhammad Kasuri suggested on Sunday that the sale of imported vegetables and other consumer goods at special counters of utility stores corporations could prove beneficial for consumers.
He said the current government deserved appreciation for improving trade ties with India.
Kasuri stated that cut in prices of vegetables in Pakistan were some of the benefits consumers were getting out of these ties. He hoped that these benefits would be doubled if public sector organizations like Utility Stores Corporation (USC) played their role.
“Combined Services Department (CSD) Stores of Army, cooperative stores and other such institutions can also be engaged in sale of vegetables and other imported items to provide benefits to the consumers,” he suggested. Kasuri was of the view that public sector organizations should be strengthened to create balance with private sector.
The present extraordinary high prices are due to absence of such a balance, he added.
