Pak, Germany for enhancing defense ties

Pakistan and Germany have called for the need for establishing an understanding on politico-military issues as well as the German policy of export of defence equipment.
A delegation comprising German Parliamentarians called on Minister for Defence, Syed Naveed Qamar, in his office here at Islamabad on Monday.
The Delegation comprised of Ingo Gadechens, Markus Grubel, Anita Schafer, Rainer Arnold, Karin Evers-Meyer, Holger Krestel, Paul Schafer, Frithjof Schmidt, Andrea Bischoff, Marcus J.Grauer, who are visiting Pakistan to discuss bilateral issues based on mutual respect and shared perceptions.
The group of Parliamentarians discussed matters related to defence cooperation and position of Pakistan on different international issues. The Defence Minister briefed them in detail about Pakistan’s commitment to fight and eradicate terrorism.
The Parliamentarians expressed satisfaction over the areas discussed. The Minister for Defence also highlighted the importance of increasing trade opportunities between the two countries in the field of defence productions. The two sides urged the need for establishing an understanding on politico-military issues as well as the German policy of export of defence equipment
The Parliamentarians also congratulated the current government on completing its tenure and urged for continuation of democratic process in future. They stressed that for systems and institutions to work properly democracy must prevail and prosper in Pakistan.
In the end the group of Parliamentarians thanked the Minister for his hospitality and openness which testifies that relations between the two countries will further strengthen.
