ANP to respond to Anti-Pashtun activities in Karachi: Asfandyar

Awami National Party (ANP) President Asfandyar Wali on Sunday said his party would strongly retaliate against efforts to push Pashtuns to the wall in Karachi. Addressing a party conference, Wali noted that Karachi had been divided among Sindhis, Muhajirs, and Pashtuns, maintaining that ANP was not maltreating anyone in Karachi. Wali said everyone was aware of whose public transport vehicles were burnt in the city and warned that if buses were being burnt, industrial centres could also be victimised. Wali further said he was grateful to President Asif Ali Zardari for giving an identity to the Pashtuns by renaming NWFP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, adding that the ANP would not leave him in times of difficulty. He also claimed that the government would complete its tenure. Referring to the statement given by Ghulam Ahmed Bilour against the makers of the blasphemous movie, Wali termed it as his personal apprehension and said it did not reflect party policy.
