Punjab Industrial Estates Development Company (PIEMDC) Chairman SM Tanveer on Saturday announced the Punjab government’s plans to shift hazardous industries from urban areas to Sundar Industrial Estate to avoid accidents leading to loss of precious live working in these units. Speaking to the journalists after the PIEMDC Board of Directors meeting, he said that 50 acres of additional land has been acquired in the SIE for this purpose. He further said that 220 industrial units are operating and 36 industrial units are nearing production, while buildings of 201 industrial units are under construction.
Similarly, he said, another 110 industrial units have completed construction of their boundary walls and soon these would move to the next phase.
