Five pro-government tribesmen killed in Bara attack

At least five volunteers were killed and four others injured in an armed attack by militants. Three militants were shot dead in retaliatory gunfire. Sources said that scores of armed militants attacked a compound of peace lashkar at Akakhel area of Bara Tehsil of Khyber Agency at midnight on Friday. The militants used heavy weapons in the attack, killing five volunteers and injuring four others. The killed volunteers were identified as Hassan Khan, Habib, Bakht Marjan, Qaibat Khan and Bashir. The injured were admitted in a Peshawar hospital. Although officials claimed that seven militants were killed in retaliation, the tribesmen in the area confirmed that only three were killed, including commander Pehalwan, and two injured. Meanwhile, some unknown militants attacked a NATO container at Jamrud, Khyber Agency on Saturday morning. Three persons including a pedestrian girl were injured whereas the vehicle loaded with supplies for NATO troops was damaged. The incident took place despite the fact that the political administration escorts the supplies till the Pak-Afghan border at Torkham and personnel of Khasadar force also guard the main Pak-Afghan Road.
