Residents of Sector G-7/4, Islamabad have expressed grave concerns over the absence of a fence on the nullah (sewerage drain) bridge and lack of street lights in the area.
The residents said that the fence of the bridge was damaged by flood water that flowed over the bridge of the drain due to heavy rains last year, but the Capital Development Authority (CDA) was oblivious of the situation and did not construct the fence.
“Our children have to cross the bridge many times on a daily basis to go to the school and market, therefore they are at a great risk of falling in the nullah,” a group of ladies said.
Moreover, lack of streetlights on the bridge were adding to the danger as the passage sank into darkness after sunset, the dwellers said, adding that poles were erected a couple of months ago for the streetlights but no further steps had been taken by the authorities concerned after that.
The residents demanded of the CDA Chairman to construct a fence on the nullah bridge and install streetlights in the area for the convenience of citizens.
