A local court on Saturday dismissed bail pleas of owners and a general manager of Baldia Town factory which consumed at least 258 lives after a fire erupted in last month. The court rejected the bail pleas of factory owners Arshad Bhaila, Shahid Bhaila and General Manager Mansoor Ahmed. The court approved the bail plea of Abdul Aziz Bhaila on medical ground.
The accused were produced before a judicial magistrate. Police said it would seek remands of the accused from the court on Monday.
A case of Baldia factory fire incident was heard in the court of Additional Session Judge West Abdullah Channa. SSP Investigation Saqib Sultan in his statement said the three gates of the factory were remained shut on permanent basis while one of the gates was closed on the directives of owners following the fire incident. He said he was not pointing fingers on owners for setting factory on fire and killing the workers, but, he added the closure of doors were the criminal negligence shown by the owners.
Counsel of victims Faisal Siddiqui Advocate said the owners Arshad and Shahid ordered manager of the factory, Mansoor Ahmed, to close the doors of all the departments.
Meanwhile, the counsel of accused said their clients were ready to face every kind of investigation and cases, adding they were also prepared to compensate victims’ families.
The court remarked if the families of victims and owners agreed upon the blood money then it would be in accordance with the law.
