Health sector reform in pipeline: Governor

Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat ul Ebad said that the Government was drafting a comprehensive health policy which would strategize up gradation and provision of mental health, drug rehab and maternity services to citizens.
He was addressing a gathering at the inaugural ceremony of Health Sector Reforms Support Unit (HSRU). The governor who was also the chief guest on the occasion said that resources would be allocated for provision of health to the residents of the province. He was hopeful that HSRU would result in better and efficient functioning of the health department.
Sindh Health Minister Dr Saghir Ahmed also addressed the audience and said that his ministry upgraded both basic health units and district hospitals in the last four and a half years. The minister underscored the urgency within the health department for planning on, District Health Care system (DHCS), Primary Health Care (PHC), maternal and child health & disaster management to prevent outbreak of polio, dengue, and cholera.
HSRU chief Kiran Nauman thanked the governor and the minister for providing better health care facilities to the people of the province.
Members Sindh Assembly, Sindh Chief Secretary Raja Abbas, Secretary Health Aftab Khatri, officials of World Health Organisation (WHO) and USAID were also present on the occasion.
