Custom officials have foiled a bid to smuggle nine kilograms of heroin worth millions of rupees to Belgium and Abu Dhabi and arrested two smugglers at Benazir Bhutto International Airport.
According to the airport authorities, the checking of the luggage of the passengers of flight EY232 of Itehad Air lines to Belgium via Abu Dhabi was underway, when nine kilogram 20-gram heroin was found from the secret pockets of the bag of a smuggler, Mehr Ali Shah. The smuggler was immediately taken into custody.
During the initial investigation, the smuggler told the authorities that another person, namely Mirza Riaz Baig, was accompanying him, on which, the police also arrested the other smuggler.
The custom authorities registered a case against the outlaws and started raiding different places in the twin cities to arrest the rest of the smugglers’ accomplices.
