Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday said that mutual coexistence is detrimental to peaceful relations with India.
Talking to senior editors and journalists of print and electronic media of Germany during a meeting in Berlin, Shahhaz said Pakistan and India will have to sit together to resolve bilateral issues for which meaningful and result-oriented dialogue is extremely important.
He said that promotion of mutual trade and exchange of delegations can improve Pak-India relations.
Speaking on relations with Afghanistan, he said that Afghanistan is a neighbouring country of Pakistan and that Pakistanis only want peace and prosperity in Afghanistan, because peace in Afghanistan is important for peace in Pakistan as well. He added that only the people of Afghanistan have the right to decide the future of Afghanistan.
Referring to the initiatives for reforms in education, health, infrastructure, transport and other sectors and the development projects started by PML-N government in Punjab province, he told the German media that Punjab government is doing its very best for service and welfare of the people.
He said that concrete measures have been taken for improving health, education and other sectors under a comprehensive programme which has yielded positive results.
He said that the literacy rate in Punjab has increased since Daanish School Project has been started for the children of poor families. He said that Educational Endowment Fund has been set up with a sum of Rs 10 billion through which more than 35 thousand students are continuing their studies.
He said that work on metro bus project costing Rs 28 billion is currently underway for providing quality, comfortable and international standard transport facilities to the people and hoped that after Lahore this project will also be launched in other big cities of Punjab.
The chief minister also referred to the progress, reforms and initiatives taken in other sectors. Shahbaz said that Germany has expertise in solar energy technology and Punjab government wants to benefit from this expertise for overcoming energy crisis. The Chief Minister said that he will also meet the heads of solar energy companies and experts during his visit.
Junior shareef has perhaps lost memory while in Europe, and forgot that he is chief minister of punjab and not forein minister of pakistan.
