The Indian golfers touring Lahore had an intense practice round of golf at the grand, par 72, Royal Palm Golf Course and prepared themselves for the actual three rounds contest that commences tomorrow, Friday at Royal Palm.
On the first day, competition will be on Scrambles match play basis and the pairings for the first day are; Ashok Singh Malik and M.M.S.Bhala vs Sardar Murad Khan & Maqbool A.Babri;Man Mohan Singh and Vijay Dhawan vs Imran Miraj & Shoaib Bokhari;R.S.Bedi and Ini Bawa vs Amir Mehmood & Mian Asad Hameed;Maj Gen(r)K.M.S.Shergill and Prakash Bhandari vs Raja Asif Mehdi & Lt.Gen(r)Sabahat Husain;Prakash Brahma and Ashwani Luthra vs Asad I.A.Khan & M.Ramzan Sheikh;Harbhajan Singh and Anil K.Mehra vs Asad Amin Sheikh & Moeen Salahuddin;Anil Virmani and Ms Bubbles Suneja vs Asad Alam & Mrs Asma Afzal Shami.
Meanwhile a memorandum of understanding was signed here on Thursday between Delhi Golf Club and the Pakistani counterpart ‘Together We Golf’. The President of Delhi Golf Club signed on behalf of organizers from across the border and Shoaib Bokhari from the Pakistani side.
As per this understanding, golf teams from the two countries will exchange visits every six months on alternate basis and as Man Mohan Singh said after the signing ceremony “This is a pilot project and the vision is to expand this to a much wider level and involve all the leading golf clubs on both sides and develop friendship through golf and involve a very wide section of the influential people who are linked to golf,in reaching the goals”. On this occasion Asad I.A.Khan of Sindh Golf Association and Member Executive Committee of Pakistan Golf Federation endorsed the thoughts and hoped that golf clubs of Karachi would immediately respond and step in.
Only two ladies are participating in this event. Asma Shami from Pakistan and Bubbles Suneja from India. Asma is a lady member of the Executive Committee of Pakistan Golf Federation and Bubbles is the lady captain of Delhi Golf Club managing lady golf strength of over 500 lady golfers. Both of them hoped for a regular visit by the lady golfers.
