Deadline and criteria for Balochistan, FATA students’ tests relaxed

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has extended the last date for the submission of application forms, for HEC reserved Medical and Engineering seats for the students of FATA and Balochistan, till October 8.
HEC has also relaxed the criteria for entry tests and now candidates with 65 percent marks in FSc can appear on the test date.
The test would be conducted through National Testing Service Pakistan (NTS). It will be conducted on October 14, in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Karachi, Quetta, and Peshawar.
According to details, HEC had announced reserved seats in the fields of medicine and engineering for the students of Balochistan and FATA on an open merit, self-finance basis.
Around 29 seats have been reserved in medical colleges of KPK and 60 seats in different engineering universities including UET Lahore, UET Taxila, UET Peshawar, MUET Jamshoro, and QUEST Nawabshah.
The distribution of seats is on 60:40 ratios for students of Balochistan and FATA respectively.
This would enable students of Balochistan and FATA to get the opportunity of gaining professional education at leading higher education institutions of the country.
Since its inception, HEC has paid special attention towards promoting the higher education sector in Balochistan.
Its main initiatives include special scholarship schemes for the faculty and youth of Balochistan, implementation of federal government’s quota policy in the award of local and foreign scholarships, the establishment of a well-equipped HEC regional centre at Quetta and an increase in the number of universities from 2 to 7 including the first Women’s University of Balochistan.
HEC had launched special projects for the development of basic infrastructure in higher education institutions of the province, adding new labs, class rooms, seminars rooms, labs, transport facilities, digital libraries, video conferencing facility, etc.
