The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) froze 22 bank accounts of Textiles Minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin on Thursday and directed the bank managers not to allow him to withdraw any money from the accounts.
According to ANF, the money deposited in the 22 bank accounts was earned illegally by Shahabuddin by allotting quotas of ephedrine when he was the health minister
The bank officials, complying with the orders of ANF, have stopped transactions for the former minister.
Challenging ANF’s decision to freeze his accounts, Shahabuddin filed a petition in the Rawalpindi bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC), maintaining that ANF cannot seize his accounts and that they should be activated.
Admitting his plea, the court issued a notice to the ANF, seeking a reply by Oct 10.
