Hearing of petition against new CDA chairman adjourned

Islamabad High Court (IHC), on Wednesday, adjourned a hearing of a petition filed against the appointment of a new chairman of Capital Development Authority (CDA), till Thursday.
An IHC single bench comprising Justice Muhammad Anwar Kashi, took up a petition filed by the former chairman CDA Farkhand Iqbal against the appointment of a new chairman. Counsel for the petitioner told the court that the government had inducted a new officer as chairman of CDA after they had filed the petition therefore, he would file a new petition after the appointment of the new chairman is notified.
The court observed that the petition had been filed therefore the counsel should present his arguments on it. The counsel for the petitioner requested the court that he had not made preparations in connection with the hearing therefore, he should be allowed some time. The court, while allowing him time, put off the hearing till today.
Former Chairman CDA Farkhand Iqbal had taken up a plea in his petition that a chairman was appointed for five years while the government had dismissed him before his term was over without assigning any reasons.
