An 11-member delegation of Rawalpindi High Court Bar Association headed by President, Sheikh Ahsan ud Din and consisting of other office bearers and executive members called on the Chief Justice Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary Thursday in Supreme Court Building, Islamabad.
Talking to the delegation, the Chief Justice said that Bar is an important part of the judiciary which always plays an effective role for strengthening and supporting the judiciary. The role of legal fraternity in Lawyer’s Movement in which they stood firm during the Judicial Crises and struggled hard to bring rule of law in the society through peaceful efforts is praiseworthy.
Discussing the issue of corruption in lower judiciary the Chief Justice underlined the need to curb this menace as it not only undermines the image of the institution, but also hampers the administration of justice. He asked them to pinpoint such elements along with credible proofs so that strict action may be taken against the delinquents.
The delegation also admired the services of the Chief Justice rendered for the cause of rule of law and Constitutionalism. They felicitated the Chief Justice for receiving International Jurists Award – 2012 by the International Council of Jurists in recognition of his contribution in the field of administration of justice. They further shared that the conferment of such award is indeed a great honor for nation as well as country.
The delegation informed the Chief Justice of Pakistan that they all are the companions of movement which instilled a spirit in legal fraternity to follow the path of Constitutionalism in the country. The delegation assured full support and cooperation in process of dispensation of expeditious and inexpensive justice and to stand by the judiciary.
