Former Prime Minister Zafarullah Jamali has said that the ongoing consultations and meetings between leaders of opposition political parties with Baloch nationalists are only a political game and not a real struggle to resolve the Balochistan issue.
Talking to media persons on Tuesday, Jamali said that the meetings of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Chief Nawaz Sharif, Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Syed Munawar Hassan and Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan, were part of a preparation for the next general polls and each political party was making an effort to gain maximum benefit by taking advantage of the Baloch leadership.
He said that the Balochistan issue was being politicised to gain the attention and sympathy of the masses of the province and no single political party was sincere in resolving the issue.
The former prime minister was of the view that reservations of the Baloch people and leadership must be resolved before the next general elections. The political leadership would have to put in their utmost effort to resolve differences if they really wanted to end the miseries of the Baloch people.
Jamali said that the Baloch leader Akhtar Mengal had declared that the elections were not his priority. He in fact wanted to calm the people of his province and get their constitutional rights for them.
He criticized the sitting leadership for not paying any heed towards problems faced by Balochistan and its people and said that the government would be responsible in the event of any untoward occurrence.
