Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday said he was making efforts to bring peace to Balochistan, adding that he was ready to make a grand alliance to resolve the Balochistan issue if the need arose. Talking to reporters at the residence of former Supreme Court Bar Association president Asma Jehangir, Nawaz said free and fair election in the country was also a demand of Baloch politicians, adding that the election in 2008 was not transparent.
The PML-N chief urged the government not to ignore the Balochistan issue, questioning under which law were the people disappearing across the troubled province. Nawaz reiterated that killers of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti should be brought to book, adding that wounds of Baloch must be healed. He said he was talking about national interest and had no personal interest. Asma praised Nawaz’s views on Balochistan and said it was a good gesture that Punjab’s leader was talking about Balochistan. She also criticised the Pakistan People’s Party for its bad governance.
