Bars’ stand on principle of Independence of Judiciary appreciable: CJP

Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said that bar association had played a vital role for the Supremacy of the Constitution and Rule of Law and appreciated the struggle and co-operation of members of bar to stand firmly on the principle of Independence of Judiciary.
He was talking to a 20-member delegation of Kharian Tehsil Bar Association headed by its president Sajjad Akram.
The members discussed issues and matters of interest of the legal/judicial fraternity and thanked the CJP for sparing time for them. They further said that his lordship is a ray of hope and he was held in high esteem by whole nation due to his professional commitments, legal acumen and dedications for cause of supremacy of constitution, rule of law and independence of judiciary.
They discussed the problems faced by them in their professional field and informed about shortage of judges. The CJP said that the matter would be taken up by the concerned authorities. The members of bar assured of their full support and cooperation to bring about improvements in the dispensation of justice and cleansing the judiciary of corrupt elements.
Moreover the delegation appreciated National Judicial Policy 2009 and struggle of the Chief Justice for strengthening the role of judiciary in society. The delegation invited CJP to visit the Kharian Tehsil Bar.
