Transport facility to be ensured in all schools, women colleges

The Senate sub-committee on Cabinet Secretariat directed the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) to ensure transport facility to all the schools and girls college attached with the directorate. The sub-committee comprised of convener Senator Dr. Saeeda Iqbal and two other members Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan and Senator Rubina Khalid who asked the FDE to maintain the same education standard in all its institutions. The meeting was informed that 76 posts were laying vacant in the FDE, whereas 178 persons were working in it on deputation, adding that 49 FDE officials were also rendering services in other departments on deputation. 
The FDE Director General Dr. Shahnaaz Anjum Riaz, said that they were striving to maintain a standard in class rooms and for the purpose they had prepared a plan of constructing 26 new blocks in different institutions but the lack of funds had presently halted the project.
The meeting was also informed about the major flaw in the distribution of academic institutions in the rural and urban areas of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).
The participants also observed that only 25 percent institutions were established in the rural areas where the number of students was much higher than the urban areas, and 75 percent were constructed in the urban areas which created lots of administrative problems.
