Islamabad to have city centre, high-rise buildings soon: Farkhand Iqbal

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to construct a city centre in Sector F-12 that will include a shopping centre and a bus and railway terminal, said the CDA Chairman, Farkhand Iqbal.
The chairman further said that approval of the project from the prime minister would be taken soon. The CDA had held discussions with the Planning Commission and the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and now 150 foot high building could be erected beside the road between Kashmir Highway to Airport Chowk, while construction of 50 foot high buildings would be undertaken on the road from Kashmir Highway to Margala Avenue, he said. The chairman had also taken a visit around the different sectors and avenues of the federal capital the previous day. During the visit and inspection of the sanitation arrangements, he sought cooperation of the residents and the business community regrding the cleanliness of the capital city.
He said that a transport system of international standard would be introduced in Islamabad that would facilitate not only the residents of the federal capital but also those belonging to Rawalpindi.
He said that the civic authority was doing its best to make the city a load shedding free city, and would soon achieve the objective.
