An activist of a religious party has been gunned down in Gulbahar area of the city on Friday. According to police, Suhail Baig was targeted by unidentified gunmen in the limits of the Rizwia Police Staion.
His party members staged protests as his body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities.
Tension prevailed in the area after the killing. Earlier, at least three more tortured dead bodies were found from different areas of the city.
A tortured dead body of a young man was found from a ground near Bismillah Hotel, Korangi. He was kidnapped and later murdered, sources said.
A dead body of an unidentified man was found from Sukhan river.
In a separate incident, unidentified criminals threw away a dead body packed in a gunny sack near ICI Bridge. The victim was not identified. His body was sent to Civil Hospital. On the other hand, Rangers arrested eighteen suspects involved in several cases from Old Golimar, Katti Pahari and Mohammadpura areas and recovered huge amount of drugs and weapons from their custody.
‘Violence cannot be tolerated in name of protests’: Commissioner of Karachi, Roshan Ali Shaikh, warned miscreants of stern action if they did anything violent in the name of protests against anti-Islam film.
Sheikh said that those who organize rallies and protests in the city would be declared responsible if any unwanted incident occurred. “We will ensure peace in the city at any cost. Bloodshed and any violent incident cannot be tolerated,” he said in a statement. The commissioner said that no one would be allowed to violate the laws.
It is to be mentioned here that protests and rallies are being held in the country against controversial anti-Islam film.
