The Federal Interior Ministry has imposed section 144 for two days in the capital city that bans pillion riding and carrying weapons.
According to media reports, section 144 had been imposed in the federal capital on Friday that would remain effective till Saturday. According to sources, the Federal Interior Minister A. Rehman Malik chaired a high level meeting after which section 144 was imposed in the federal capital.
The sources also said that the interior minister had issued orders banning pillion riding in Islamabad over concerns of terrorist attacks. He also directed the law enforcement officials to beef up the checking of suspected vehicles within the red zone area and at all entrance and exit points of Islamabad, the sources said. A police source said that a man had been arrested in connection with opening fire on Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Sher Mohammad while attacking the Tarnol Police Station on September 21. The accused was apprehended after valuable information was extracted from the already detained persons during interrogation, and the suspect had been transferred to an undisclosed location for further inquiry, the police source added.
