Malik comes hard on law violators

Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that no one would be allowed to disrupt the law and order situation, adding that 201 people, who were involved in racketeering and damaging public property, had been arrested. Talking to journalists while reviewing security arrangements, prior to the Lawyers rally, Rehman said that no one was allowed to enter the Red Zone and diplomatic enclave. All entrance points into Islamabad had been sealed the night before to prevent a repeat of last Friday’s chaos.
He said that no allegations should be made against law enforcing agencies. He said that 201 people, who were involved in racketeering and damaging public property, had been arrested, out of these 120 were Afghan nationals.
He said that he had warned all such elements that if anyone had tried to disrupt law and order, they would be identified with the help of cameras, which had been installed at all entry and exit points of Islamabad, and would not be allowed to escape. The minister further said that President Asif Ali Zardari, by raising the blasphemous movie issue during his address in the UNGA, had truly represented Pakistan.
In response to a question, Malik said that the former Chief Minister of Balochistan, Akhtar Mengal, should not have spoken against Pakistan, if he had any reservations, he should have addressed the Supreme Court.
