A massive protest was carried out by District Bar Rawalpindi lawyers, who reached the Shams gate of the US Embassy in Islamabad on Friday, but were sent back by security forces after they submitted their protest resolution.
The protest resolution against the anti-Islam film has been presented to the US Embassy.
The lawyers managed to enter the heavily-guarded Diplomatic Enclave, right up to the gate of the US Embassy, despite Section-144 being imposed in the federal capital.
Sources said that participants of the rally offered Friday prayers at the Constitution Avenue before proceeding towards the Diplomatic Enclave.
Earlier, the lawyers had gathered outside the Parliament House and chanted slogans against the film. They had also handed over a “condemning resolution” to Senator Hilal Khan outside the National Assembly. Around 600 officials of the police had been deployed along the Red Zone with the anti-riot force. Rangers have also been tasked to maintain security inside the Diplomatic Enclave.
NAB directs CDA to act against illegal constructions: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), taking notice of constructions in Sector E-11 without taking permission, has directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to act against building owners according to its rules and regulations. According to reliable sources, directives were issued in a briefing held at the NAB office to CDA Member Planning, Aziz Qureshi. The bureau directed him to bring the constructions of high-rise plazas and other buildings in non-acquisition areas in E-11 under rules and regulations. Sources said that NAB had come to know that CDA had failed to oversee and restrain mushrooming constructions in E-11. They also revealed that NAB had taken notice of tampering in the trade of a plot allotted for the construction of a Marriage Hall near Lal Masjid to make it commercial, and had asked CDA to submit a report in this regard.
