Neelum Jhelum Hydro Electric Project Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Lieutenant General (r) Muhammad Zubair has warned that Pakistan may lose 13 percent of water worth $141 million on Neelum Jhelum, if India succeeds in building Kishanganga Dam. He was giving a briefing to the National Assembly Standing Committee on Economic Affairs Division (EAD) which met under the chairmanship of Pirzada Imran Ahmed Shah on Friday.
He informed the committee that India was constructing 14 dams which would adversely affect Pakistan and through which India could also control the water in Mangla Dam. The CEO demanded that committee cooperate with them to get the outstanding amount of Rs 83 billion released from the Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO), adding that even if Rs 2 billion were released every month, Neelum Jhelum Hydro Electric Project could be run successfully without any delay.
