Lahore High Court Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial on Friday served a contempt notice to Religious Affairs Minister Khursheed Shah for not allotting quota to new Hajj tour operators despite court orders.
The court has summoned Khursheed Shah on October 2. During the course of proceedings, the counsel of Haj tour operators Azhar Siddique said that 68 Haj tour operators have not been allotted quota despite assurances from the federal secretary for religious affairs. He said that all the new companies fall on merit but the Religious Affairs Ministry was deliberately delaying their allotment. Having heard the arguments from both sides, the court summoned Khursheed Shah on October 2, issuing a contempt notice against him.
