The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has refused to extend Afghan refugees’ stay in Pakistan, saying they are being sent back due to law and order in the province. The deadline that the KP government has given to the Afghan refugees is December 31 after which stern action would be taken against them including impounding their property and deporting them. A meeting between Afghan government, the Ministry of SAFRON and provincial governments was held to discuss the status of Afghan refugees in Pakistan. In the meeting, the KP administration had raised the issue of economic instability of the province due to these refugees.
