Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Muhammad Mehnati has said that inter faith harmony would prevail in the world, if disrespect of sacred totems of religions are declared as criminal offences under international law. Addressing a meeting of Difa e Pakistan Council he said that terming blasphemy of Islamic fundamentals as ‘freedom of expression’ would never be tolerated and the western world has to respect the tenets of Islam. Mehnati said that some nefarious elements, those who had hijacked the peaceful protest in Karachi, were hatching conspiracies to erupt sectarian violence and riots in the city.
