The funeral prayers of Shah Saeed Ahmed Raipuri were held on Thursday. He had passed away earlier on September 26 (Wednesday) in Lahore. Shah Saeed Ahmed Raipuri had been the spiritual heir of Khanquah-e-Raipur of India, founder of JTI, Tanzeem Fikr-e-Waliullahi Pakistan, Rahimia Institute of Quranic Sciences and Nizam-ul-Madaris Rahimia. He was considered to be one of the most revered religious elders of Pakistan. He advocated against madrassa-college divide and struggled all his life to bring the youth from these two streams together. His rational interpretation of religion always placed a human-being at the centre. He propagated “non-violence” as a principle for political struggle and warned his contemporaries against supporting American-sponsored Jihad in Afghanistan.
