Declaring the head money announced by Railways Minister Ghulam Ahmed Bilour for the anti-Islam film’s director as “irresponsible and hate-mongering”, Acting US ambassador to Pakistan Richard E Hoagland said on Thursday that the US could not stop blasphemous acts due to freedom of speech. Talking to the media, Hoagland said that people like the maker of the anti-Islam film were found in every society.
He said that the controversial film had triggered a new debate over the boundaries of freedom of speech and its consequences. When asked about US drone attacks on Pakistan, Hoagland said that any initiative viable to prevent terrorism would be the best way to ensure world peace.
