Youth Festival attracting people from all walks of life

Another 48,106 took part in different events of the Tehsil level of the Punjab Youth Festival 2012 on Wednesday with 135 tehsils getting involved in the third stage activity and 15033 winning their events of category.
After today’s participation in the sports events the total number of participants in the Festival’s third level has reached 141,476 and winning coming 42,685 people’s way. On the other hand, the sixth day saw 370 ladies taking part in healthy baby competition with 63 children winning the first prize and during these past days a total number of 939 took part in this competition and 132 won the top honour in the province.
As the sports and other activities are being held under the supervision of the Sports Board Punjab, the other events are being taken care of by Population Welfare Department, Social Welfare Department, Education Department and the District governments of the province.
In Iqbal Town, Arm Wrestling competitions were held where Adil Ashraf beat Abdul Waheed 70-85. In Cricket TB, Union council 123’s Imran XI defeated Union council 132’s Siddique XI by 4 wickets. Union council 119’s Anmol XI beat Union council 122’s Azim XI by 12 runs while Union council 148 won a Cricket HB match against Union council 121 by 22 runs. In Aziz Bhatti Town, Cricket TB final was played between Union council 54 and Union council 48. Union council 54 got victory over Union council 56 by 42 runs
In Gulberg , Cricket TB, Union council 97 defeated Union council 96 by 12 runs, Union council 32 beat Union council 126 by 33 runs whereas in the final match between Union council 32 and 97, the formers were declared winner by 8 wickets. In the football final, Union council 96 beat Union council 97 on penalty shootout 5-4. In Cricket HB, Union council 131’s block 1 defeated Union council 131’s block 5 by 6 runs. In Chess, Union council 32’s Mudassir Akram thrashed Union council 129’s Amir Jaffar. In Basketball, Union council 97 got 68 points to beat Union council 129 who managed only 65. In the Arm Wrestling, Union council 128’s Tayyab Raza won in the category of 85-plus kgs class final. In the Tug of War, Union council 32 gained 2 points to attain success against Union council 97 with zero points.
In Lahore division, around 6266 people took part in the events like athletics, arm wrestling, billiard, badminton, cricket in both tape and hard ball, football, table tennis, volleyball, weightlifting and chess.
In all 2974 turned out to be the winners from four districts of the city and in the city alone 1867 participated in the activity in the nine towns and 934 earned limelight.
Lahore’s Nashtar town remained actively involved in the events with 756 taking part in seven team events and 378 winning honour. Similarly, Aziz Bhatti Town also had a large gathering in different competitions and in all 156 won from among 312 participants.
In other parts of the province, the sporting activity remained in progress with Multan and Gujranwala being over the top in where more than 8000 each participants displayed their skills and 4319 won in total in both the divisions. In Rawalpindi there were 4957 participants and 1403 winners, Sargodha’s participants were 2033 and 1039 winners, Faisalabad had 7694 and 2745 winners, Sahiwal got 2884 and 1183 winners, Bahawalpur 4399 and 1142 winners and Gera Ghazi Khan 2633 and 239 winners.

  1. Just saw on TV that at the end of once event the youth around looted all the icereams from poor Walls Iceream vendors. That isa very disturbing behaviour of us as a nation. I am sure majority of the people present there did not participate but they should have spoken up and tried to stop that. Keeping quite is a bigger crime morally than actually committing it. Just think it can happen to us or our loved ones. We need to speak up at the moment or be prepare for the worst.
