The Sindh High Court on Wednesday suspended the implementation of its disqualification verdict in Waheeda Shah’s case and permitted her to file an appeal in the Supreme Court. Haider Imam Rizvi, Counsel for Waheeda Shah, in an application to the Sindh High Court submitted that head of the bench that delivered the judgment in the case was out of the city and he had to file an appeal in the Supreme Court. He sought exemption in the implementation of the judgment for two weeks. A two-member bench of the SHC headed by Chief Justice Mushir Alam accepted the application and suspended the implementation of the judgment for two weeks. The election commission had disqualified Waheeda Shah for slapping election staff during bye elections in Tando Mohammad Khan. She had filed an appeal in the Sindh High Court but a two member-bench headed by Justice Muneeb Akhtar had upheld the election commission’s decision.
