RDA launches maiden housing scheme

The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has decided to initiate its first ever housing scheme since the establishment of the civic body in 1989.
It should be mentioned here that the RDA was established for the purpose of launching housing schemes and to provide low cost housing facilities to the citizens, but it had failed to commence any housing scheme despite a passage of 23 years since its establishment.
Sources said that the RDA Director General Chaudhry Naseer Ahmad had given the task of acquiring land for the maiden housing scheme to Director MP&D Jamshed Aftab and directed him to focus on small housing schemes instead of bigger ones. The housing scheme would be constructed on 50 acres of land.
Naseer, while talking to agencies acknowledged that the RDA had failed to achieve the basic aim of its existence to launch housing schemes during the last 23 years, and added “We want to provide at least one to two housing schemes to the citizens during our tenure and the options of five, seven and 10 marla plots would be available to the public.”
