The Hubble Space Telescope has captured one of the most incredible views of the Universe that has ever been seen, made up of more than 2,000 images of the same tiny sliver of the night sky. In order to produce the Hubble extreme Deep Field, which adds another 5,500 galaxies to its 2003 and 2004 view, Hubble had to return to the same area more than 50 times in a decade. The most distant objects found so far date back to 500 years after the formation of the Universe some 13.7 billion years ago, when it was a violent place, filled with colliding and merging galaxies. Professor Garth Illingworth from the University of California at Santa Cruz said of the project: “The XDF is the deepest image of the sky ever obtained.
